3.03 The Employer shall Burin, wage/contract negotiations. endeavor to schedule time for <br />members of the negotiation teats to participate in the negotiations w ithout having to have worked <br />the 1 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift immediately prior to any negotiation session. <br />3.04 Employees who are elected members of`the I=OP/OLC Labor Committee shall be <br />authorized a bank of eighty° (80) hours of'paid leave. per calendar year. to attend FO1'.%OEC <br />sponsored functions such as educational meetings. business meetinus. or seminars. The bank of <br />eighty (80) hours shall be used collectively by elected committee members representing the Blue <br />1-init. Gold F)nit and Corrections Unit. All requests to use hours from this hank shall be <br />submitted in vvritin�� forapproval by the C'hiefof'Police or his Designee. vyhich shall not be <br />unreasonably withheld. It is understood that the attendance will not be approved if it will incur <br />overtime. at the time the approval is granted. Additional time may be granted at the sole <br />discretion ofthe Police Chief. <br />ARTICLE 4 AGENCY SHO1'IN)F S DEDI CFION <br />4.01 All employees in the bargaining unit shall become dues paying members ofthe <br />FOP/OEC. <br />4.02 Any newly hired employees in the bargaining unit shall. within sixty (60) days of'date of <br />employment. become members of the FOP/OEC. <br />4.03 The Employer agrees to deduct FOP/OEC dues from any member of the bargaining unit <br />who provides written authorization for a payroll dries and fees deduction. The FOP/OEC shall <br />indemnify the Employer and hold it harmless against any and all claims. demands. suits or other <br />liability that may arise by reason of'any action of the Employer in complying with the provisions <br />ol'this Article. <br />ARTICLE 5 WORK 11'1;EKlSC`}IEDU(,I D HOURS <br />5.01 For the purpose of this agreement. a workday is defined as continuous eight (8) hour <br />period in any twenty-four (24) hour period, except during those periods which a double back <br />occurs. A double back is defined as the work period in which an employee completes a shift and <br />starts another shift or assignment within the same twenty-four (24) hour period. Double hacks <br />required by the Lmployer will be paid at time and a hall'( I %). A workvveck is defined as forty <br />(40) hours. <br />5.02 Compensation for regularly scheduled eight (8) hour days shall be at the straight -time <br />rate of* pay. <br />ARTICLE 6 OVERTIME/EXTRA DUTY/CAH, OUT/COMPENSATORY BANK <br />6.01 Employees shall be paid one and one-half'( 1 1/2) times their regular rate of pay for all <br />hours required to be worked in excess ofthe wort: day or week as defined in Section 5.01 or may <br />choose to at their overtime rate, accumulate and maintain up to a maximum of one hundred <br />
