Council Minutes of 2-16-2021
• Discussed were the appointments of two individuals to the Small Business Relief
Board. Council heard interest from James Burns and Elizabeth Supan. Mr. Burns
is a longtime resident of North Olmsted. He has previously served as the Finance
Director as well as a CPA. Ms. Supan has previously served on the Charter
Review Commission and as a financial expert for Cuyahoga County and
University Hospitals. The committee recommended by a vote of 3-0 Mr. Burns
for the third position on the Board. The committee also recommended by a vote of
3-0 Ms. Supan for the second position.
Councilman Glassburn moved to appoint Elizabeth Supan to the second position on the
Small Business Relief Board and James Burns to the third position on the Small Business
Relief Board. The motion was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed
unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Glassburn, Schumann, Limpert, Brossard, Hemann, Kelly, Williamson
No: None
Motion passed. Ms. Supan and Mr. Burns appointed 7-0.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
None.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2020-77 introduced by Councilman Schumann was given its third reading. An
Ordinance amending Section 1135.02 of the Zoning Code of the City of North Olmsted
entitled "Accessory Uses" for the purpose of eliminating the two hundred foot residential
lot setback requirement for animal shelters used for chickens, as amended. Councilman
Schumann moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson
and passed unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Schumann, Williamson, Glassburn, Brossard, Limpert, Hemann, Kelly
No: None
Motion carried. Ordinance 2020-77 adopted 7-0.
Councilman Glassburn voted yes with comment. This is definitely an area in which the
Council is wading into that we don't know a lot about. We will have to see how this
works out and if changes need to be made at a later time. Thank you,
Councilwoman Hemann voted yes with comment. My first inclination is that most of our
City lots are too small for this type of thing. We do have one or two residents that are
doing it successfully. I would hope that those residents that follow will be cognizant of
the fact that you know it's a pretty big undertaking, and that, if changes do need to be
made on a going forward basis I would also be open to doing that. Yes. Thank you.
