Council Minutes of 5-05-2021 <br />their services these past few weeks and as this program wraps up in the next few as well. <br />Thank you. <br />Councilman Kelly Chairman of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee: <br />The Recreation, Public Parks and Building Committee met on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 <br />at 7:19 p.m. Present were committee members Kelly, Hemann Brossard; Council <br />members Glassburn, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson; Council President Jones; <br />Mayor Kennedy, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau and <br />Director of Planning and Community Development Lieber, Recreation Commissioner <br />Drenski and guests. <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2021-31. A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to lease replacement fitness/cardio <br />equipment at the North Olmsted Recreation Center, as detailed in the <br />specifications on file in the Division of Recreation, and authorizing the Mayor, <br />following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the same with the <br />lowest and best bidder. Commissioner Drenski said the goal is to replace some of <br />the cardio equipment as the original lease was five years and with the pandemic <br />the lease was extended an extra year. The machines are now owned and <br />maintenance is performed quarterly. The plan is to replace eight treadmills, an <br />unspecified number of elliptical machines and to lease two or more Peloton bikes. <br />The cost is not known, but is expected to be between $100,000 and $120,000 over <br />five years. There are no set figures yet. Councilwoman Hemann expressed <br />disappointment in the $20,000 range and would like a better figure for it. The <br />Mayor responded she could come to Board of Control, but promised to get the <br />figure to Council prior to the Board of Control meeting. The committee voted 3-0 <br />to recommend to Council. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Lambert, who resides at 25057 Carey Lane, sent an e-mail to Council regarding the <br />cancellation of North Olmsted's Homecoming for the second year due to COVID. He <br />said while the parade will continue, the City should have a two-day community picnic <br />with food trucks, car show, etc. The complete message was forwarded to Council and is <br />attached to the meeting minutes. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Jeff Sturgeon <br />3092 W. 231 <br />Mr. Sturgeon said he is happy the Clague Road issue is being held in committee, but he <br />would like to know how long it can be held in committee. <br />Council President Jones said it can be held in committee until there is action to bring it <br />out. By rule, it is automatically tabled one year after introduction if action is not taken. <br />3 <br />
