Council Minutes of 05-17-2022 <br />The Finance Committee met on Tuesday. May 17, 2022 at 7:33 p.m. Present were Committee <br />Members Glassburn, Williamson and Limpert and Council Members Hamann, Kelly, Gilchrist <br />and Scad, Mayor Jones, Law Director Gareau and guests. <br />• Discussed O. 2022-43 NOPEC Grant to apply to receive grants that will apply to a <br />number of projects throughout the city. The Ordinance was favorably recommended 3-0 <br />and the Committee Meeting concluded at 7.34 p.m. <br />Councilman Kelly, Chairman of the Streets and Transportation Committee. <br />Had no report but asked for a moment of personal privilege to express his gratitude to the safety <br />forces present and looks forward to the public comment section of the council. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Tammy Farris <br />Union Representative <br />Westlake, OH <br />Voiced concern that dispatchers weren't consulted on the plans to move dispatch and continued <br />to express several points in opposition to North Olmsted Dispatch moving to Chagrin Valley <br />Dispatch. <br />Councilman Kelly moved to extend Ms. Farris' time. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilwoman Hemann and passed unanimously. <br />Roll Call <br />Yes: Kelly, Hemann, Gilchrist, Glassburn, Limpert, Scarl, Williamson <br />No None <br />Motion carried. Ms. Farristime extended by a vote of 7-0. <br />Ms. Farris continued to state that people become dispatchers because they care about the <br />people, the community and the police and fireman's safety. Please consider doing something <br />on the Westside. <br />Sargent Matt Beck <br />Speaking out to save the jobs of North Olmsted Dispatchers and expressing his concerns of the <br />police officers' safety by not knowing the voices of the Chagrin Valley Dispatchers. <br />Beth Vance <br />Cleveland, OH <br />Stated four dispatchers have over 40 years of experience and three to four that have 25 years <br />of experience that cannot be touched by anyone in the area. Stated it would be a huge <br />disservice to the residents and officers to move the dispatch center. <br />Bill Schneider <br />Fairview Park, OH <br />Feels moving the dispatch would cause North Olmsted to be in breach of its contract with <br />Fairview Park and stated his opposition to the move. <br />Lt. Dave Huspaska <br />Expressed that he does not feel that the police officers nor firemen are in favor of moving <br />dispatch. <br />
