Across Columbia Rd is Cedar Pt. Rd
which is in your ward until just passed the Metro Parkway. The bridge
that crosses over the Rocky River just east of Frostville has been blocked
and removed in part for more than a year. Cedar Pt.. road is the most
direct route off Columbia (252) to the back entrance to NASA, the
Airport, IX center, and Brookpark. It is also the only road in North
Olmsted to the park that has bike lanes. Sheppard's Lane docs not and
is dangerous. Those bike lanes once across the river, connect to the
riding paths along the parkway.
Now that you have an overview, MY CONCERN: That bridge has been
out for more than a year. Moreover, NO BODY AND I MEAN NO BODY
has been working on it for the last several months. We go down there
several times a week and see NO BODY working. We walked into the
construction zone last week and saw nothing but a hole and concrete
substructure well below the surface of the road. We also saw equipment
and materials piled up, sitting idle, and rusting with NOBODY in sight.
Basically, this area has turned into nothing butan eye sore with junk
piled on public property.
As my Councilwoman, I want you to first go down there and see it for
yourself. 1 think this is a County project and as such, there has to be a
contract with the Contractor who is doing the work. That contract has to
include a reasonable conclusion time for completion. I would expect to
see Cedar Pt. Rd. open by this fall as predicted, 60 day from now. But
looking at what needs to be done, it could take forever. Then, I would
like you to contact Nan Baker, our County councilperson as well as the
County Executive and get some answers and NO EXCUSES. It the
contractor is claiming no workers, then maybe you can suggest he
import some Mexican Migrants — workers who want to work! But
really, if he is not living up to his contract with the County, SOMETHING
MUST BE DONE! KAPISH??
Get back to me with some answers and do it soon.
Thanks, Dennis 86 Carol Lam bort.
