During the registration process you will be asked the number of children that will be in your vehicle, so the appropriate number of treats can be distributed. • The City will observe door-to-door trick -or -treating from 6-8 p.m. on Halloween evening, Monday, October 31. Participating residents are asked to turn their front porch light on during those hours. • The North Olmsted Arts Commission will host the annual Halloween House Decorating Contest. Deadline for residents to enter is October 23. Three winners and prizes will be announced by October 28. Judging will take place in the following categories: Creativity/Originality, Placement, Theme/Storyline, Visual Impact and Overall Presentation. Judging will be done by Arts Commission members. To enter, visit the City's website. • The City's Human Resources Department hosted Customer Service and Diversity and Inclusion Training for all North Olmsted Employees in sessions held during the past two weeks. Harassment and Discrimination Training for all those employees in a supervisory role were also completed. • Fire Prevention Week will be observed in the City from October 9-15. We are reminding our residents to be sure and check their smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries and replace them if necessary. Director of Law Gareau: • Director Gareau provided an updated on the City of North Olmsted vs. Ghaith Mohammad Alabdallah, noting the Summary Judgement hearing was continued for two weeks and also discussed the high cost related to this incident involving an uninsured motorist. • Director Gareau also stated in a follow-up with regard to Kelly Patrick vs. Michael Gareau, Charles Fiorillo, Michael Gordillo and others, that they have filed the motion to dismiss Ms. Patrick's attempt to revive her case. Director of Finance Copfer • None (Absent) Councilwoman Williamson.. Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee. The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Present were Committee Members Williamson, Kelly and Glassburn and Council Members Gilchrist and Scarl, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer. Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of Economic and Community Development Upton, Safety Director Scofield, Service Director Kearney, Recreation and Public Engagement Director Pinchek, Special Assistant to the Mayor Massarolo and guests. • Discussed Ordinance 2022-84. An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to purchase a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe from Ganley Chevrolet for the North Olmsted Fire Department, through the State Purchase Program, at a cost of $45,057.00 and further authorizing the Mayor to execute contract documents.
