Council Minutes of 10-18-2022
Mr. Glassburn asked for a moment of privilege to welcome a new resident to Ward II, Mr. Greg
Mahoney, who is in attendance this evening.
0115M
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Cary Peeples
4673 Lansing Drive
Mr. Peeples came to Council to ask for help slowing drivers down on his street. He stated the
speed has increased since he and his wife moved onto the street 1.5 years ago., noting that you
cannot time the cars in order to pull in and out of the driveway. He has spoken to Mr. Kelly, the
Law Director and Director Scofield about this issue and feels there should be more speed signs
on the street, at least two and noting there are a lot of kids in the area. He and his wife are
renovating their home and investing in the City, and in return they need attention to this issue.
Also mentioned that Crocker Road is a speed strip and a community effort is needed to stop this
before a fatality happens on the road.
Mr. Bruce Bluell
4716 Lansing Drive
Mr. Bluell is a neighbor of Mr. Peeples and has lived on the street since 1983, and came to
reiterate Mr. Peeples sentiment. He feels the patrols have decreased in frequency since
Crocker Road opened. He also stated the rush hour traffic cuts through at speeds over the
speed limit and the sound has increased as well.
Mr. John Cotofan
25914 Tallwood Drive
Came to thank Safety Services for providing Auxiliary Police presence at the NOSO Soccer In -
House Season, as he believes their presence on Barton/Bradley Roads made it a safer
experience for all. He also stated that Barton/Bradly Field added a GaGa Ball pit and a few
other things from Grant Becker of Troup 664as an Eagle Scout project. In 2018, Derek Becker
built GaGa Ball pits and Forest and Spruce, which were both recently sold to the City. He asked
for consideration from the City to sell the GaGa pits back to Troup 664 for the purpose of putting
them into Pine and Maple Schools as the kids really miss them in the schools.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2022-85 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. A Resolution
authorizing the Mayor to purchase a Field Turf Indoor Track for installation at the Recreation
Center from FieldTurf / Tarkett Sports Company at a cost of $290,031.50 through the State
Purchase Program, and further authorizing the Mayor to execute all contract documents.
Councilman Glassburn moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman
Hamann and passed 6-0.
Roll Call:
Yes: Glassburn, Hemann, Gilchrist. Kelly, Williamson, Scarl
No: None
Motion carried.
