Council Minutes of 01-03-2023 <br />provide free, fresh produce for the North Olmsted community at Maple Intermediate <br />School, located at 24101 Maple Ridge Road. The next date is Tuesday, January 24. This is <br />a drive-through service. <br />• Free hearing screening will be offered from 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, January 23, <br />2023 at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. <br />• Residents can participate from the comfort of their yard or a nearby park to the North <br />Olmsted Snowman Contest. All North Olmsted residents are encouraged to join in on <br />the fun and be creative! Create an animal, your favorite movie character, a snowman <br />with North Olmsted spirit, or your own North Pole Village. Submission date range is <br />from the first major snowfall until Tuesday, March 1, 2023 and there is no cost to <br />participate. <br />Assistant Director of Law O'Malley: <br />• No Report. <br />Director of Finance Copfec <br />• Wished all a Happy New Year. <br />• Beginning January 23, 2023, Medicare is requiring our City to join a study to collect cost <br />data on the complete cost of EMS runs, to ensure Medicare is paying the correct rates <br />for EMS responses. This is a joint effort between the Finance Division and Fire <br />Department and is important because many other providers set their payment rates <br />based on Medicare's rates. <br />Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee: <br />The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 7:25 <br />p.m. Present were Committee Members Williamson and Glassburn and Council Members <br />Hemann, Limpert, Gilchrist and Scarl, Council President Brossard, Mayor Jones, Assistant Law <br />Director O'Malley, Finance Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Safety Director <br />Scofield and guests. <br />• Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee was scheduled to discuss Ordinance 2022- <br />306, an Ordinance Amending Chapter 557 of the General Offenses Code of the City of <br />North Olmsted, entitled "Sale of Cigarettes and Tobacco Products' in order to update <br />regulations for the sale to or possession of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, or other <br />tobacco or alternate nicotine products by individuals under 21 years of age, and <br />declaring an emergency. However, Director Scofield informed the Committee that the <br />legislation may be in conflict with State Legislation and requested it be held in <br />Committee. The Committee voted 2-0 to hold in Committee and the Committee <br />Meeting concluded at 7:29 p.m. <br />Councilwoman Williamson moved to remove Ordinance 2022-106 from the Agenda. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Glassburn and passed 6-0. <br />Roll Call: <br />Yes: Williamson, Glassburn, Hemann, Gilchrist, Limpert, Scarl <br />No: None <br />
