Council Minutes of 01-03-2023 provide free, fresh produce for the North Olmsted community at Maple Intermediate School, located at 24101 Maple Ridge Road. The next date is Tuesday, January 24. This is a drive-through service. • Free hearing screening will be offered from 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. • Residents can participate from the comfort of their yard or a nearby park to the North Olmsted Snowman Contest. All North Olmsted residents are encouraged to join in on the fun and be creative! Create an animal, your favorite movie character, a snowman with North Olmsted spirit, or your own North Pole Village. Director of Finance Copfec • Wished all a Happy New Year. • Beginning January 23, 2023, Medicare is requiring our City to join a study to collect cost data on the complete cost of EMS runs, to ensure Medicare is paying the correct rates for EMS responses. This is a joint effort between the Finance Division and Fire Department and is important because many other providers set their payment rates based on Medicare's rates. Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee: The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 7:25 p.m. Present were Committee Members Williamson and Glassburn and Council Members Hemann, Limpert, Gilchrist and Scarl, Council President Brossard, Mayor Jones, Assistant Law Director O'Malley, Finance Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Safety Director Scofield and guests. • Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee was scheduled to discuss Ordinance 2022- 306, an Ordinance Amending Chapter 557 of the General Offenses Code of the City of North Olmsted, entitled "Sale of Cigarettes and Tobacco Products' in order to update regulations for the sale to or possession of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, or other tobacco or alternate nicotine products by individuals under 21 years of age, and declaring an emergency. However, Director Scofield informed the Committee that the legislation may be in conflict with State Legislation and requested it be held in Committee. The Committee voted 2-0 to hold in Committee and the Committee Meeting concluded at 7:29 p.m. Councilwoman Williamson moved to remove Ordinance 2022-106 from the Agenda.
