Council Minutes of 01-17-2022 <br />new hires, as well as other promotions, will have a ceremonial swearing in at an <br />upcoming Council Meeting. <br />• The Mayor updated Council on the updates completed at the Recreation Center. The <br />garage door was installed, and the turf will be arriving on January 23rd. It is an exciting <br />time for the Recreation Center and once everything is up and running their will be a <br />grand opening for Council and residents. <br />• The City received all of the necessary environmental reports for Spruce Elementary. <br />There were no recognized environmental concerns identified in the report. The <br />environmental reports for Forest are expected the week of January 24", and it is <br />expected to close the acquisition of both properties by the end of January. The <br />Administration will be bringing forward Legislation authorizing the City to solicit bids for <br />Demolition at the next scheduled Council Meeting. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Director Gareau updated Council on a few pending matters in which the City is involved. <br />The first is The City of North Olmsted vs. Willoughby, involving a traffic incident wherein <br />significant damage was done to the traffic light signal system. A phone conference was <br />held on January 12, 2023, and a settlement conference is scheduled with the Court for <br />February 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. <br />• With regarding to The City of North Olmsted vs. Dunk, Director Gareau advised this case <br />involves a registered sex offender in violation of code. The defendant agreed to leave <br />and relocate to an area that was not in violation of our City Ordinances and that case <br />was satisfactorily resolved. <br />• The next case was The City of North Olmsted vs. Bramante, which is another property <br />damage/motor vehicle accident, wherein a status conference is scheduled for March 7, <br />2023. <br />• An update was provided in regards to a motor vehicle accident involving a police cruiser, <br />The City of North Olmsted vs. Work. Director Gareau noted that we most likely will not <br />see any movement on that case in Rocky River Court until May. <br />• The last update was regarding The City of North Olmsted vs. Berkin which involves <br />unpaid rental fees and is set for Mediation on January 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. <br />Director of Finance Copfec <br />• The Finance Department has been busy with the normal end of year tasks, along with <br />the beginning of the year tasks. Ms. Copfer looks forward to bringing the permanent <br />budget to Council the first Council Meeting of February. <br />Council President Brossard, Committee of the Whole: <br />The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 7:01 p.m. Present were <br />Councilmembers Williamson, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, Gilchrist and Scarl, Law Director <br />Gareau and guest. <br />• The purpose of the Committee of the Whole was to interview the four candidates who <br />submitted resumes for the At -Large Council position vacated by Pat Kelly.
