Council Minutes of 03-21-2023 <br />• The City has ordered two Speed Data Traffic Collector Boxes and two Speed Alert Radar <br />Message Signs. The four items, ordered by our Police Department, are slated to arrive <br />by the end of April and will hopefully cut down on speeding in our neighborhoods. <br />• The City's Deer Culling program will continue until Friday, March 31. The program is <br />handled by our Police Department. Signage is posted in neighborhoods to notify <br />residents about the program. To date, 82 deer and one coyote have been harvested. <br />• The North Olmsted Parks & Recreation Division will be hosting the annual <br />"Eggstravaganza" at North Olmsted Park from 10 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, April 1, <br />2023. Registration is required for all egg scramble participants by calling the Recreation <br />Center at 440.734.8200. <br />• The Mayor thanked the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Maria <br />Sabala for hosting her first "Economic Development Summit" on Thursday, March 16 at <br />Springvale Ballroom. The event drew 90 business leaders and owners, and featured <br />Keynote Speaker Bryce Sylvester, Senior Director, Site Strategies, with TEAM NEO, along <br />with an economic development panel discussion. <br />• The City will host a "Community "Shred It" Day from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, March <br />25'^ at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. <br />• The Mayor noted only two fish fry events remain in our six-week series of Lenten Fish <br />Fries at Springvale Ballroom. <br />• Mayor Jones recently swore -in Tahani Mousa to the North Olmsted Arts Commission. <br />• Lastly, the Mayor announced she will be resuming the popular "Breakfast with the <br />Mayor" program for our City Employees. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Director Gareau reported that North Olmsted joined several surrounding communities in a class <br />action lawsuit against pharmacies allegedly associated with the proliferation of opioids plaguing <br />communities, and noted that he would continue to keep Council up to date on that lawsuit. <br />• After receiving the 2022 update from Rocky River Court, Director Gareau updated Council on the <br />top offenses being prosecuted. He noted that the offenses run rather steady, statically <br />speaking, from year to year, and updated Council on the few top offenses affecting North <br />Olmsted. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• Director Copfer discussed H.B. 1 that is currently in the General Assembly, noting how it impacts <br />revenues and property and income taxes. Director Copfer went on to explain the effects H. B. 1 <br />will have on the General Fund. <br />Council President Brossard, Committee of the Whole: <br />The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 7:41 p.m. Present were <br />Councilmembers Williamson, Glassburn, Hamann, Limpert, Madden, Gilchrist and Scarl, Mayor Jones, <br />Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of Economic <br />and Community Development Upton, Safety Director Scofield, Service Director Kearney, Recreation and <br />Public Engagement Director Pinchek, Special Assistant to the Mayor Massarolo and guests. <br />
