Council Minutes of 06-20-2023 <br />cuts that will reduce general revenues by a projected $3.1 billion, resulting in a reduction of the LGF <br />distribution by $35.5 million each fiscal year. <br />In addition, the Senate version preempts local regulation of tobacco and alternative nicotine <br />products, which are decisions granted to municipalities through Home Rule Authority and are better <br />left to the residents of communities. <br />We will continue reaching out to legislators to ensure the final version of the state operating budget <br />is one with long-lasting policy and funding solutions that will serve to benefit the cities and villages <br />of Ohio, which will continue the state's success." <br />• Mayor Jones also noted that she went to Columbus of May 10, 2023, to meet with the State Leaders <br />to advance the needs of our city and all cities. <br />• A grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on June 22, 2023 at Fortune's Cookies in <br />Great Northern Mall. <br />• Mayor Jones will swear -in new officers for the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce as a part of a <br />luncheon on June 22, 2023. <br />• North Olmsted VFW Post 7647 will host their annual golf outing and four -person scramble with a <br />shotgun start at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Springvale Golf Course. The donation is $95 per <br />person and includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, lunch, a buffet dinner, prizes and raffle baskets, <br />along with a cash bar. Registration and fees are due by August 1. <br />• Mayor Jones reported that over 500 people attended the first Touch -A -Truck event. Special thanks <br />to City personnel who took part and gave special thanks to the Sports Program Supervisor Melissa <br />Shirley for coordinating the event. <br />• The next "Saturday in the Park" Summer Concert Series is on Saturday, June 24 with a performance <br />by Off the Record, who specializes in rock and country music. The concert will take place from 6-9 <br />p.m. at the Gazebo in North Olmsted Community Park. <br />• Parking lot and lighting improvements are continuing at Springvale. The golf course and ballroom <br />are completely operational during the work and should be complete in a few weeks. <br />• Mayor Jones swore -in North Olmsted's newest Police Officer and welcomed James Larking to the <br />Police Department. <br />Assistant Director of Law O'Malley: <br />• No Report. <br />Assistant Director of Finance Sperling: <br />• No Report. <br />Councilman Limpert, Chairman of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: <br />The Building, Zoning and Development Committee met on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 7:02 p.m. Present <br />were Committee Members Limpert, Williamson and Hemann and Council Members Glassburn, Madden, <br />Gilchrist and Start, Council President Brossard, Mayor Jones, Assistant Law Director O'Malley, Assistant <br />Finance Director Sperling, Economic and Community Development Upton, Safety Director Scofield, <br />Service Director Kearney, Special Assistant to the Mayor Massarolo and guests. <br />• Ordinances 2023-52, 2023-53 and 2023-54 were discussed together as they are closely related. <br />Councilman Limpert reported that the three pieces of legislation were held in Committee in <br />order to address timing considerations in relation to Ordinance 2023-18. It was noted that this <br />is a restrictive approach given that this is a new business type with substances that are not yet <br />regulated, but are amendable in the future as State and Federal Regulations may be ruled on in <br />the future. Mr. O'Malley noted that there was a thought of the zoning within the law <br />
