Council Minutes of 02-20-2024
Janice Denham
5129 E. Park Drive
Ms. Denham came to Council for her fifth time to discuss the cell tower placement at the North Olmsted
Park. She continued on to read documents to support her concerns of the negative health
consequences of living in close proximity to the cell tower. She noted that her life, the life of her
neighbors and children, will be in danger because of the cell tower. She quoted from a lawsuit against
the FCC surrounding the impacts of long-term exposure to children and wildlife. Ms. Denham is
frustrated that the Administration and Council have sided with TowerCo instead of the residents. She
noted that neither Director Pinchek, Director Upton or Kit (TowerCo) live in North Olmsted, and they
want to spoil our park and move on to more lucrative jobs, boasting their accomplishments of
renovating the park and finding creative revenue sources, while the residents are left with the serious
health consequences for years.
Jeff Sturgeon
3092 W. 231" Street
Mr. Sturgeon came to Council to discuss the detour down his street due to the Clague project, he asked
if a speed sign could be placed on his street as a lot of the people from the detour are speeding down his
street. The Mayor responded that the Administration will make sure a speed sign is deployed in the
area. Mr. Sturgeon also provided his opinion on Food Trucks in the area. He doesn't feel that it is fair to
restaurants who have to pay for a building and staff, that someone with a food truck, having little
overhead, parks where they want. He believes the food truck by his home is an eyesore, and noting that
it has been there for a month. He feels the flashing neon -green light from the food truck and the food
truck itself is not a good fit for the City. Mr. Sturgeon also stated that he would really like to see
sidewalks on Brookpark Road and would like the City to continue to push ODOT to get sidewalks
installed there.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2024-2 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. A Resolution authorizing the
City Engineer to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide maintenance services for the
Recreation Center mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems, as detailed in the specifications on file, and
authorizing the Mayor, following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the same with the
lowest and best bidder.
Councilwoman Hemann moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Scarl and passed
7-0.
Roll Call:
Yes: Hemann, Scarl, Shymske, Glassburn, Madden, Gilchrist, Limpert
No: None
Motion carried.
