Council Minutes of 03-20-2024 <br />• Discussed Ordinance 2024-19, An Ordinance repealing Chapter 950 entitled "Urban Forest" and <br />enacting new Chapter 950 entitled "Tree Preservation and Management'. Councilman Shymske <br />noted there were extensive changes made to the legislation, and therefore the Committee <br />voted 3-0 to hold in Committee one more week so that the Law Director and the Chair have <br />time to sort through comments from the Committee, and the Committee Meeting concluded at <br />7:29 p.m. <br />Councilman Shymske moved to remove Ordinance 2024-19 from the Agenda. The motion was seconded <br />by Councilman Madden and passed 7-0. <br />Roll Call: <br />Yes: Shymske, Madden, Scarl, Gilchrist, Glassburn, Limpert, Hemann <br />No: None <br />Motion carried. Ordinance 2024-19 removed from the Agenda by a vote of 7-0. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Council received a letter from Mr. Shaun Kibler, the President of the North Olmsted Fire Fighters IAFF <br />Local 1267. In the letter, Mr. Kibler stated that the overwhelming majority of his membership voted <br />and passed a motion to publicly express support for the renovation efforts of Fire Station 1. He noted <br />that the renovation holds significant importance for the well-being of the members. Lastly, the letter <br />states that the North Olmsted Fire Fighters would gladly provide input in the renovation process, should <br />it be requested. A copy of this letter was provided to all of Council, the Mayor, The Safety Director, and <br />is attached to these minutes. <br />AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br />Steven Erhman <br />5680 Wellesley <br />Mr. Erhman came to Council to discuss the park improvements. He advocated for keeping the diamond <br />closest to the cabin, reducing expenses and preserving green space. He questioned the need for <br />additional structures like a pavilion and bandstand, citing concerns about maintenance and the <br />prioritization of greenery in North Olmsted. He suggested community involvement for the project's <br />phases. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance 2024-12 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. An Ordinance to authorize <br />the execution of Then and Now Certificates by the Finance Director and the payment of amounts due for <br />various purchase orders and declaring an emergency. <br />Councilman Glassburn moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Limpert and <br />passed 7-0. <br />Roll Call: <br />Yes: Glassburn, Limpert, Hemann, Gilchrist, Scarl, Shymske, Madden <br />No: None <br />Motion carried.
