Council Minutes of 04-02-2024 <br />• Mayor Jones invited all members of City Council to the second annual Mayor's Economic <br />Development Summit, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18" at Springvale Ballroom. <br />The event is co-sponsored by the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce. Tickets can be <br />purchased by calling the Chamber office. Special Guest will be Veronica Miniello with CoStar. <br />The cost is $40 for Chamber Members and $50 at the door. <br />• Mayor Jones advised that we will salute our dispatchers during the week of April 14-20, which is <br />"National Telecommunicators Week", and our Administrative Professionals during "National <br />Administrative Professionals Week, celebrated April 21-27. The Mayor also advised that April 7- <br />13 is National Library Week. <br />• The North Olmsted Kiwanis and the Berea ARF are sponsoring an April Fools 5K Run/Walk <br />beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 7. The race begins and ends at Springvale Ballroom. The <br />cost is $30 in advance and $35 on the day of race. Net proceeds will be donated to the North <br />Olmsted Community Council and Berea ARF, and the t -shirt sponsor contributions will be <br />donated to the North Olmsted Kiwanis Scholarships Fund. <br />• On Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to Noon, the North Olmsted Recreation Center, will <br />sponsor the "Puzzle Hustle". The Rec Center will provide a puzzle and teams will race against <br />each other in order to keep their puzzle. Each team can have 2-4 people ages 10 and up. Cost <br />to participate is $25 per team. <br />• Lastly, Mayor Jones reminded all of the "2024 Citizen of the Year" to be presented at a banquet <br />on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by North Olmsted Community <br />Council at Springvale Ballroom. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Not Present. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• No Report. <br />Councilman Glassburn, Vice Chairman of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: <br />The Building, Zoning and Development Committee met on Tuesday, March 26, at 7:00 p.m. Present <br />were Committee Members Limpert, Glassburn and Gilchrist and Council Members Scarl, Madden and <br />Shymske, Mayor Jones, Law Director Gareau, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of Economic and <br />Community Development Upton, Safety Director Scofield, Service Director Kearney, Special Assistant to <br />the Mayor Massarolo and guests. <br />• Discussed PDC Case 24-23689 PK -5 School. Councilman Glassburn reported on behalf of <br />Councilman Limpert that this is phase one of the new Pre -K through 5 Elementary School <br />project, adding that it will be a three phase project. Each phase will go through the full City <br />Council review process. This phase is the building layout and the road and parking as it relates <br />to school site. The City Engineer noted that a traffic study completed by Lewis Lane <br />Professionals drove much of the conversation around the infrastructure related to entering the <br />building. The site is also providing significant storm water retention. How long the retention <br />basin would hold the water was discussed and the Engineer noted that it was a short time <br />retention, until the storm system could catch-up during heavier rains similar to the Middle <br />School/High School complex. The traffic pattern and signalization were discussed, as well as the <br />number of expected staggered bus waves to start and end the school day.
