Council Minutes of 04-02-2024 <br />• Discussed the reappointment of Gretchen Schuler to the Landmarks Commission for a two-year <br />term ending on December 31, 2025. Councilman Madden reported that the Mayor spoke highly <br />of Ms. Schuler's credentials and lengthy tenure as a North Olmsted resident. Councilman <br />Glassburn also added that Ms. Schuler is a former North Olmsted Citizen of the Year, and is <br />extremely qualified for the position. The Committee favorably recommended the <br />reappointment of Ms. Schuler by a vote of 3-0, and the Committee Meeting concluded at 7:31 <br />p.m. <br />Councilman Madden moved to approve the reappointment of Gretchen Schuler to the Landmarks <br />Commission for a two-year term ending on December 31, 2025. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Shymske and passed 4-0. <br />Roll Call: <br />Yes: Madden, Shymske, Hemann, Glassburn <br />No: None <br />Motion carried. Gretchen Schuler reappointed to the Landmarks Commission by a vote of 4-0. <br />Councilman Shymske, Chairman of the Environmental Control Committee: <br />The Environmental Control Committee met on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 7:32 p.m. Present were <br />Committee Members Shymske and Madden, Council Members Glassburn, Gilchrist, Limpert and Scarl, <br />Mayor Jones, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of <br />Economic and Community Development Upton, Safety Director Scofield, Service Director Kearney, <br />Special Assistant to the Mayor Massarolo and guests. <br />• Discussed Ordinance 2024-19. An Ordinance repealing Chapter 950 entitled "Urban Forest" and <br />enacting new Chapter 950 entitled "Tree Preservation and Management" of the Streets, Utilities <br />and Public Services Code of the City of North Olmsted. Councilman Shymske reported Law <br />Director Gareau made several changes to the new Chapter at the advisement of the <br />Environmental Control Committee. The changes focused on better defining the terms used in <br />the code, and outlining the Arborist's responsibilities, as well as the responsibilities of the three <br />City Departments sharing the costs of the Arborist (Econ. Dev., Service and Safety). Ordinance <br />2024-19 with Amended Exhibit B, was favorably recommended to Council, by a vote of 2-0, and <br />the Committee Meeting concluded at 7:44 p.m. <br />Councilman Shymske moved to Amend Ordinance 2024-19 and corresponding Amended Exhibit B.
