Council Minutes of 04-02-2024 <br />Steve Urmin <br />5680 Wellesley <br />Mr. Urmin came to Council to speak about the history of the park, mentioning its origins during the <br />depression era as a donated land track, later sold off by the City. He criticized the current political <br />climate and expressed nostalgia for the planned green spaces of Washington, D.C. He lamented the loss <br />of the part of the park to baseball players in the 70s or 80s, and expressed satisfaction that the fencing <br />will be consolidated to the North. He also highlighted difficulties in accessing historical information on <br />the City website. He voiced concerns about placing the cell phone tower near Lorain Road. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance 2024-20 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. An Ordinance directing that <br />the real property owned by the City of North Olmsted and known as 0.7467 acres, or 32,527 square feet, <br />of permanent parcel number 233-26-063 which is presently undeveloped property but is no longer <br />needed for municipal purposes be sold to BDW Properties, LLC.; and further authorizing the Mayor to <br />execute a Purchase and Sale Agreement and all other documents required to effectuate said sale, and <br />declaring an emergency. <br />Councilman Glassburn moved for adoption. Ordinance 2024-20 adopted 4-0, with no emergency clause. <br />Ordinance 2024-19 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its second reading. An Ordinance repealing <br />Chapter 950 entitled "Urban Forest" and enacting new Chapter 950 entitled 'Tree Preservation and <br />Management' of the Streets, Utilities and Public Services Code of the City of North Olmsted, as <br />Amended. <br />Ordinance 2024-23 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its second reading. An Ordinance providing for <br />the issuance and sale of not to exceed $3,800,000 of Notes, in anticipation of the issuance of Bonds, to <br />provide funds to pay costs of acquiring and installing energy conservation measures in City buildings and <br />facilities, together with all necessary appurtenances thereto. <br />Ordinance 2024-24 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its second reading. An Ordinance providing for <br />the issuance and sale of not to exceed $6,150,000 of Notes, in anticipation of the issuance of Bonds, to <br />provide funds to pay costs of improving the City's parks and recreational facilities, including the Senior <br />Center, by constructing, installing, furnishing, equipping and improving basketball courts, baseball <br />facilities, playgrounds, multi-purpose fields, trails, and parking lots, and otherwise improving parks and <br />recreational facilities, together with all necessary appurtenances thereto, and clearing, equipping and <br />improving the sites thereof. <br />Ordinance 2024-25 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its second reading.
