Council Minutes of 05-07-2024 <br />Mayor, following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for same with the best proposed <br />contractor, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution 2024-43 was introduced by Mayor Jones and placed on first reading. A Resolution dispensing <br />with the RFP process and authorizing the Director of Recreation and Public Engagement to enter into a <br />contract with Morgan Services, Inc. for linen laundry services at Springvale Ballroom, and declaring an <br />emergency. <br />Resolution 2024-44 was introduced by Mayor Jones and placed on first reading. A Resolution <br />authorizing the Director of Economic and Community Development to solicit Statements of <br />Qualifications for architectural firms to perform an historic preservation plan and architectural <br />assessment for the Old Town Hall pursuant to Secretary of the Interior Professional Qualifications <br />Standards for Architectural History. <br />Ordinance 2024-45 was introduced by Mayor Jones and placed on first reading. An Ordinance amending <br />and reestablishing Section 139.99(b) of Chapter 139 of the Administrative Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Department of Public Safety," for the purposes of re - <br />titling an existing position of "Secretary" to "Administrative Assistant' and, further, creating a part time <br />position of "Property Room Manager' both reporting to the Chief of Police, and declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance 2024-46 was introduced by Mayor Jones and placed on first reading. An Ordinance amending <br />and reestablishing Section 139.99 of Chapter 139 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Department of Public Safety," for the purposes of amending the <br />organization chart for the Division of Police by adding language "(Up to 6)" Lieutenants, and declaring an <br />emergency. <br />Resolution 2024-47 was introduced by Mayor Jones and placed on first reading and suspension of the <br />rules and formal Committee review requested. A Resolution selecting Mayor Holzheimer-Gail, the Mayor <br />of the City of Euclid in Cuyahoga County, to serve as a member of the Cuyahoga County 9-1-1 Program <br />Review Committee; and declaring an emergency. <br />Councilman Scar[ moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings and formal committee <br />review. Resolution 2024-47 suspended 6-1 <br />Prompted by Council President Brossard's request for any attendees to address council on Resolution <br />2024-47, Mr. Alejandro Chock, who resides at 24677 Randall, came to the podium. Mr. Chock expressed <br />concern about the selection process for the Mayor of Euclid, suggesting it might have been intentional. <br />He noted the coincidence that the President of CVD was chosen for this position, implying it could have <br />been any past president, and emphasized his belief that there are no coincidences in government, and <br />suggested the appointment was deliberate. He urged council members to avoid the backlash seen in <br />2022, and expressed his disappointment in the bypassing of committee and three readings. <br />
