Council Minutes of 05-21-2024 None. Janice Denham 5129 E. Park Drive Ms. Denham came to Council to oppose the cell phone tower at North Olmsted Park. She expressed sadness over the Mayor, City Council Members and the Recreation Director ignoring the health and financial well-being of residents, and hiding their approval of a 140' cell tower in a century -old park. Ms. Denham criticized the lack of transparency, noting that neither the Mayor nor Director Pinchek mentioned the cell tower in recent literature. Ms. Denham highlighted the health concerns with 5G towers and the 20% reduction in property values near cell towers. Connie English 5009 E. Park Drive Ms. English came to Council to oppose the cell phone tower at North Olmsted Park. Ms. English voiced her opinion with regard to Council's disregard for the City's own tower regulations. She highlighted the specific regulations in Chapter 1151, which were enacted to protect property values, maintain the City's aesthetic appearance and safeguard residential properties. Ms. English pointed out Resolution 2023-79 required a final development plan approval, offering a chance for Council to consider the residents' concerns. She urged Council to review the plans carefully, and hoped for transparency in future meetings regarding the tower plans. LEGISLATION Ordinance 2024-30 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. An Ordinance to make Appropriations for Capital Improvements for the City of North Olmsted Fire Station 1 for the Year Ending December 31, 2024. Councilman Glassburn moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Limpert and passed 5-1. Roll Call: Yes: Glassburn, Scarl, Hemann, Gilchrist, Shymske No: Limpert Motion carried. Ordinance 2024-30 adopted 5-1. Ordinance 2024-35 introduced by Mayor Jones was given its third reading. An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into a First Amendment to the agreement between the County of Cuyahoga and the City of North Olmsted for the resurfacing of Clague Road from Lorain Road to Marion Road, and declaring an emergency. Councilwoman Gilchrist moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Shymske and passed 6-0.
