B. 12 -Hour Shift Operations. A workday is defined as continuous twelve (12) hour period <br />in any twenty-four (24) hour period while on a twelve (12) hour rotation. Sehadnle. The <br />twelve (12) hour shift schedule shall be comprised of a day schedule and a night schedule <br />with actual hours to be determined by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. A workday is defined as a continuous ten (10) hour period <br />in any twenty-four (24) hour period while on a ten (10) hour schedule, with actual hours <br />to be determined by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. <br />6.03. Schedule/Biddinr. The Chief of Police or designee shall allow employees to indicate shift <br />preference, gest -bid but otherwise shall determine and schedule all shifts in accordance with <br />Police Department Policy and operational needs. <br />e€gay. (Note: Moved to 6.02 A) <br />ARTICLE 44 7 <br />OVERTIME/EXTRA DUTY/CALL OUT <br />6." 7.01. Contractual Overtime/Compensatory Time. Employees shall be paid one and one- <br />half (11/2) times their regular rate of pay for all hours required to be worked in excess of the work <br />day ea and work week/period as defined in Section 6-84 6.01 or 6.02, as is applicable ew-may <br />Work day overtime is only given in a week/period so long as sick leave is not used during the <br />applicable work weeklperiod. If sick leave is used, the sick time hours are offset hour for hour <br />from what would otherwise have qualified as overtime hours. Overtime A wil-be is converted to <br />compensatory time at the current rate of pay plus longevity on a dollar -for -dollar basis. (Note: <br />Moved from former 6.02) For purposes of Contractual Overtime, all hours paid, except for sick <br />leave, will be considered hours worked. Sick leave used for bereavement purposes is classified <br />as bereavement leave and remains included <br />6.03 7.02. Court Time Minimum. Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue of the <br />provisions of Section 1 hereof shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours when required to report <br />for extra duty over and above his regular work day and work week. Such an employee shall also <br />be paid a minimum of two (2) hours for appearance at the Rocky River Municipal Court. A <br />minimum of four (4) hours for appearance at the Grand Jury, Common Pleas Court, or Juvenile <br />Court when the same are required, and are also at a time other than the employee's regular work <br />tour. Where a court appearance is made virtually without reporting to the station, a minimum <br />of one (1) hour shall be paid The compensation for the aforesaid hours will beat time and one- <br />half (11/2). <br />6,84 7.03. Out -of -Class Par/Acting Officer Par. Any time an employee below the rank of <br />sergeant is required to temporarily take charge of a shift command, such employee shall be paid <br />4889-1562-5157. v.3 <br />
