Since we are <br />self-insured, this is an absolute necessity and was favorably recommended 2-0. <br />• Last listed was 2024-81, but due to myself not being able to participate, there was no <br />quorum for that legislation, and so it was held. Finance was concluded at 8:19 p.m. <br />Thank you. <br />Council President Brossard: <br />Councilman Scarl, Chairman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee, do you <br />have a report this evening? I do, Mr. President, thank you. <br />Councilman Scarl: <br />Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on August 13, 2024 at 8:19 p.m. Present <br />were Committee Members Scarl, Hemann, and Madden, Council Members Gilchrist, <br />Glassburn, and Shymske, the Directors of Law, Finance, Economic Development, Safety, <br />Service, Recreation, Special Assistant to the Mayor, as well as Lieutenant Fioritto from Police <br />and Captain Peters from Fire. <br />• First item on the agenda was Resolution 2024-83, which authorizes the Mayor to <br />enter into an agreement with Harrington Electric to install a very necessary battery <br />backup system for the North Olmsted Police Department and Dispatch Center at a <br />cost of $108,000.00. The resolution was discussed in detail, emphasizing the need <br />for emergency approval due to the critical nature of maintaining operational <br />capacity during power outages. The resolution was favorably recommended to <br />council by a vote of 3-0. <br />• Next was Ordinance 2024-84, which authorizes the mayor to purchase new Eventide <br />recorders for the Dispatch Center for the state purchase price of $263,000.00. These <br />recorders are essential for recording and managing communication lines. Lieutenant <br />Ficritto explained they are a necessary upgrade due to increased demand and the <br />expansion of dispatch services. This ordinance was favorably recommended to <br />council by a vote of 3-0. <br />• Next on the agenda was Resolution 2024-85, which authorizes a three-year contract <br />with Olmsted Township for police and fire dispatch services, wherein the township <br />will pay North Olmsted 300,000.00 the first year in an annual 3% increase each year <br />thereafter.
