CITToI NORTH OLMSTED --
Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones
Max Upton, Director I Department N Economic and Community Development
A 5200 Dover Center Road I Noon Olmsted, Ohio 44010 P 440-7184118 F 440-7775889
August 26, 2024
Duane Limpert
Chairman, Building Zoning and Development Committee
North Olmsted City Council
5200 Dover Center Road
North Olmsted, Ohio 44070
RE: Summary of Changes 8-9-24 Lorain Road Corridor Study
Chaimum Limpert,
In advance of the 8-27-24 Building, Zoning and Development Committee meeting and in an effort to
focus the conversation on the elements of the document that have been revised 1 am submitting the
following "summary of changes" memorandum.
In addition to the specific changes made in the text of the document, edits were also made to the node -
based recommendations in Chapter 4, "Exploring Design Ideas." These changes provide the City with
more options and eliminate the "pyramiding" effect, where intermediate steps could be interpreted
committing the city to the long-term vision. As a result, the concepts are now presented as options
rather than sequential steps. Additionally, the recommendation for a roundabout at the Steams Road
intersection has been removed.
I. Page 22: Correction of the misspelling of "Olmstead" to "Olmsted"
2. Page 24: Additional language added at the last sentence of the page to indicate where the bike
and pedestrian infrastructure should be prioritized which reads as follows;
a. "This indicates a clear need for improved bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure along
the corridor, with a Miculu focus on improvements cast of Stearns Road."
3. Page 25: Additional language added w clarify and narrow the scope of a underground utility
pilot area. In the original document it read, `the creation of a pilot area for burial between
Country Club Boulevard and Great Northern Boulevard is recommend." It now reads as
follows;
a. "The creation of a pilot area for burial in an initial location where wires are
particularly problematic is recommended."
4. Page 38: Recommendation was re -worded to provide discretion throughout the corridor so it
doesn't read as a mandate. The following warding was added
a. "Where applicable, this detail can be considered to support traffic calming and
improve pedestrian safety"
5. Page: 43 The recommendation of"reallocating 10' to 20' deep zone adjacent to the sidewalk
along the private property side" was re -worded to allow Flexibility on behalf of the property
owners and city planners.
