CONNECTIONS AND BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE <br />li Expanded Sidewalks <br />lI, ®®` <br />� Ul gl <br />Wider Multi -Use Path <br />Modifications to the existing sidewalks to improve <br />the pedestrian space and provide bicyclists with <br />an off-road facility is important to the growth of <br />non -motorized transportation in North Olmsted. <br />Pedestrians and bicyclists are dependent on path <br />safety, accessibility, comfort, and convenience at <br />all hours of the day and during all seasons of the <br />year. Implementing these improvements along the <br />entire corridor is vital in providing access for all <br />residents of North Olmsted to the businesses and <br />destinations along Lorain Road. <br />An effective bicycle network connects people of <br />all abilities to recreational, educational, civic, and <br />the community's commercial assets. <br />And while the development patterns in an <br />established suburban community like North <br />Olmsted make the creation of off-road bike <br />facilities more challenging, the community has <br />been clear in expressing a desire for these facilities. <br />Investments in biking infrastructure provides <br />numerous benefits - <br />• Increased livability access <br />• Increased revenue and customer traffic for <br />businesses located along the trail system <br />• Greater opportunities for attracting talent <br />• Reduction for smaller, localized trips <br />• Increased property values <br />• Improved community health <br />LORAIN ROAD CORRIDOR STUDY <br />
