Employees shall be permitted to request that vacation leave credit, earned in the <br />prior year, be accumulated. In no event shall the employee be permitted to accumulate vacation <br />leave credit in excess of the vacation leave credit earned in the prior year. Employees shall be <br />required to take, or request to be paid for such accumulated vacation leave credit within one (1) <br />year from the date the employee requested accumulation of such vacation leave credit. An <br />employee shall forfeit his right to take or be paid for any vacation leave to his credit which is in <br />excess of the accumulated vacation credit for one (1) prior year. All such excess vacation leave <br />credit shall be eliminated from the employee's vacation leave balance. <br />SECTION 3. All vacation time shall be paid at the regular wage rate, except when the employee <br />requests vacation credit accumulation. For the purpose of calculating vacation pay, when vacation <br />accumulation is requested by an employee, the wage rate at the time the vacation was requested to <br />be accumulated shall be used to calculate vacation pay. If, due to scheduling, vacations cannot be <br />taken subsequent to the year such vacation was earned and are accumulated and taken in the next <br />subsequent year, the rate of vacation pay shall be at the rate of pay during the year such vacation <br />is taken, provided the same is approved by the Department Head. <br />SECTION 4. Vacation Scheduling/Requests. Vacations must be scheduled with and authorized <br />by the Chief of Police or his designee. Schedules are to be coordinated so as not to disrupt <br />necessary Employer services or functions of the department. Forpurpose ofpreference orpriority <br />in the selection or scheduling of Vacation, the date of hire by the City shall be used for seniority. <br />Lateral transfers with prior years of service shall not be advanced thereby but rather limited to <br />their respective date of hire by the Cityfor purpose of seniority. <br />17 <br />4882-1615-2607,v 5 <br />
