Finance Director Copfer:
Mr. President. Mr. Barrett, I believe my Administrative Assistant spoke with you or your son,
and we're looking into this situation with RITA, so it may take a little time, but we're working on
it. I just wanted you to know that we empathize with you and your situation.
Dan Barrett:
Thank you very much. Now, I have contacted an attorney, and he said, sure, we can get this
expunged. It's going to cost you $1,000. So we're either going to get it resolved here or I'm
going to pay the $1,000, because I'm not going to let this stand, and I don't want to wait three
months and then my attorney say, guess what, it's too late. So I need somebody to act.
Finance Director Copfer:
I understand. We are.
Law Director Gareau:
Mr. President, sir, if I can ask. Sir, if I can just ask. What was the nature of the proceedings in
Rocky River? It wasn't a civil litigation? Were they charged with a criminal violation for non-
payment? Or was R a civil?
Finance Director Copfer:
Non -filing, I think.
Law Director Gareau:
Was it a civil to collect?
Dan Barrett:
To be honest with you, I'm not sure.
Finance Director Copfer:
I have the information, so I can give it to you. But that's what it was.
Law Director Gareau:
The civil side?
Finance Director Copfer:
Correct.
12-03-24 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 9
