Figure 6. Bike racks well occupied and located near the access point to the high school at Butternut Ridge Rd
(New) North Olmsted Elementary School
The primary routes for walking and biking to school are:
Lorain Road: Lorain Road will have anew direct access point to the new school which will be used as the
main entrance to school. The sidewalk of Lorain will also connect to two new trails—one on the south
side of school grounds connecting Lorain Rd and Palm Drive which has a crosswalk to connect to the
academic wing, and another on the North side, giving closer access to the school's cafeteria.
Walter Road: The new access point on Lorain Rd is located near the Walter Rd/ Lorain Rd intersection.
Walter Road currently has 5 ftsidewalks on both sides of the streets. It also has two crosswalks at
Walter Rd and Southbound Lorain Rd. With this intersection serving as an entry point to the school, a
crosswalk on the Northbound direction at Lorain Rd and a crosswalk across the driveway entrance to the
school needs to be added.
Palm Drive: Palm Drive will serve as the primary access to school grounds for school buses. There are 5
ft sidewalks on both sides of the streets.
The primary intersections that students walking and biking cross to get to school are:
D Lorain Rd/ Walter Rd
a Coe Ave/ Palm Dr
n Palm Dr/ Columbia Rd
