The discussions were incredibly productive, and I was able to secure commitments of funding in the fiscal year 2026, congressionally directed spending round. • This is just the beginning of this year's appropriation process. There are several additional hurdles to get through, much like in 2022 when we were successful in securing $1.25 million for the force main project at Clague Road. • I want to invite all of Council to join me on the opening night of the annual Mayor's Art Show this Thursday, May 20th. The opening reception is at Old Town Hall from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. As you know, this annual event honors the many talented young artists in our city. If you are unable to attend on Thursday, the exhibit is open on Friday, March 21st, from noon until 2:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 22nd, from 10 a.m. until noon. This is free, and I encourage you and all of our residents to attend. • Our first of two annual shredded events is being held from 9:00 a.m. until noon this Saturday at the Recreation Center. Residents can bring up to two bags or boxes of items to be shredded per resident. Additionally, personal computers will be accepted for recycling. This is a popular event that usually sees several hundred residents take advantage of it each year. If your spring cleaning hasn't begun yet, the second event is going to be held in late September. • And finally, get ready for a competitive, action -packed night on Friday, March 28th with North Olmsted's Nerf Battle. Age groups will be split into two teams and will play three games. The games include Capture the Flag, Team Battle Royale, and more. Safety goggles will be provided if your child does not have any. You must bring your own Nerf Blaster; darts will be provided. Parents can join in the last half-hour of each age group. The 6 through 8 -year-old battle will take place from 6:00 until 7:15 p.m., and the 9 through 12 year-olds will go from 7:30 until 8:45 p.m. Pre -registration is $30 for residents, and $40 for non-residents, and contact the Recreation Center to register, and that, Mr. President, concludes my report. Law Law Director Gareau: Thank you, Mr. President, I do. • The first day of spring is this Thursday, and with spring comes property maintenance problems. Either A, you're outside and you can see them now more because they're around you, or B, grass and weeds and debris and what have you, seems to become the main issue as we move into warmer weather. I want to let you know about a couple of cases. One, where we had some level of success. It was less of a maintenance case, but a Building Department case, where we have work being undertaken and improvements to real estate without the proper permits and approvals. It's a lot more common than you'd think, but in this case it's at 30940 Lorain Road just west of Barton.
