Finance
Finance Director Copfer:
No report, Mr. President
Council President Brossard:
Okay. That'll move us into Council Committee Reports.
Councilman Limpert, Chairman of the Building, Zoning, and Development Committee, do you
have a report this evening?
Building, Zoning and Development Committee
Councilman Limpert:
I do not, Mr. President, but if I could have a moment of personal privilege. Sometimes it's nice
when someone steals your thunder, because it means that other people are thinking along the
same lines, and I wanted to take a moment to recognize Mr. Tom Hatfield. And I'll just add a
couple other things so I don't rehash everything he did. For one thing, North Olmsted has four
Ohio State titles, which up until recently was the most of any school in the State of Ohio, and
that was started due to his winning and leadership, and his mentoring and continuation with
the program for years after, to continue that success.
I also just want to note that, you know, thousands of people came to North Olmsted for soccer
tournaments from all across the Midwest and Canada, on the East Coast. So his work, and
maybe even internationally beyond Canada, and his work, you know, brought those people to
North Olmsted and be recognized as a city over those years, of somewhat notoriety in the state
and people being aware when you say you're from North Olmsted, if they played soccer, they
were probably aware of that. So I wanted to recognize that. And the last thing I wanted to say
about Tom, is that he really was a selfless servant leader. You know, he wasn't somebody who
grandstanded and tried to tell everybody what he did. You know, he would get his hands dirty,
and at the same time, he would always try to put the city or North Olmsted Soccer, North
Olmsted Soccer Organization at the forefront, and it never really was about him. So, you know,
we don't often recognize residents here. Sometimes we mention Councilmembers, but he really
did make a tremendous impact to this community over the years. So thanks, Mr. Gareau, for
bringing that up, and I wanted to recognize that as well, thank you.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you for your comments. Councilwoman Hemann, Chairwoman of the Recreation, Public
Parks, and Buildings Committee. Do you have a report this evening?
Recreation Public Parks and Buildings Committee
Councilwoman Hemann:
I do not, thank you.
03-18-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 4
