observations I have. I hope that, you know, some of these things can be addressed because,
you know, it's a main thoroughfare. That's all my comments.
Mayor Jones:
Mr. President?
Council President Brossard:
Mayor.
Mayor Jones:
Thank you, Mr. Hoyer, for your comments. I'm going to have our Service Director speak with
you in a moment so that you can get even more information. But just to quickly address some
of the things that I heard you say this evening, the Clague Road project is a county road project.
So while that road sits, you know, within our city limits, the county is the one who handles all of
the contractors. It handles their— it's on their timeline. Now, we did push up the construction
of that force main pipe that went in last year, and that was because when the city was notified
that the county was ready to do Clague Road, you know, at the end of last year and this year,
we were trying to be efficient in trying to limit the amount of time that the residents who live in
that area, and the commuters who go through there every day were going to have to live
through, you know, various road projects. So we pushed up that pipeline project so it would be
done and then that new road that was laid down would not have to be dug up again. The
Service Director, like I said, can come over and speak with you more as far as, I guess, the
thinking of the county as to some of this. But I will say that we will absolutely take another look
at that intersection for you, and if there's anything that the city can do to at least alleviate some
of the traffic concerns while it's going through this resurfacing, we absolutely will. But like I
said, unfortunately, it is a county project, and so oftentimes we as the city find that our hands
are sort of tied when it comes to things like why are the contractors just moving barrels around
and not actually working and then to your question about Dover Center Road, that also is a
county road. Yeah, we could not wait for the county to decide four years from now that they're
going to finally come in and resurface just because of the deterioration that we saw over this
past winter.
Mr. Axel Hoyer:
And again, I understand that, you know, because I drive all those roads. But, you know, that
part from Lorain on the south side is just terrible, you know, and then it becomes concrete. So
that gets another question is why is that concrete and this asphalt, you know, it just becomes
these things that are very frustrating. And then, you know, when the commuters, it's not only
going down Clague, but, you know, they're going to Walter Road or whatever and they're going
through neighborhoods, you know, that means, you know, increased traffic, and it just doesn't
seem very efficient, you know, in these days of hopefully better efficiency. So maybe I should
go to a county meeting or something like that. But it's just we're better off having a sinkhole
when it's an emergency.
Mayor Jones:
Thank you, and Mr. Kearney will be able to speak to you as well.
