Council President Brossard:
Thank you. I'll miss seeing Jack in his trademark hat and overalls.
Law Director Gareau:
Suspenders.
Council President Brossard:
Suspenders, right. Director of Finance Copfer, do you have a report this evening?
Finance
Finance Director Copfer:
Yes, I do, Mr. President.
• 1 echo Mr. Gareau's remarks. He was a very generous man, always volunteering for
community projects at the Historical Society and others. He was also, I will remember,
he was instrumental in getting our petty cash at the Finance Department increased.
Because he would show up first thing Monday morning with hundreds, no checks from
him, and be like, what do you mean you don't have change? So that's always been our
little finance joke about him. So I remember him fondly in many ways.
• 1 also attended last Thursday, as a lot of administrative people did, a young lady who is
going for her Gold Star scouting project. Sophia, I think it's... go ahead and say it....
Mayor Jones:
Beohmerle.
Finance Director Copfer:
• That's it. She had a really great project. She did a, her talk was on the View from Down
Here. She's been disabled all of her life, and lives a very normal life. Just kind of tried to
open the conversation and encourage open dialogue between people who might be
uncomfortable with people with disabilities or overcompensate with people with
disabilities, and just how people with disabilities may rather want to be treated and you
can, you know, ways to talk with each other. It was very mature of her for her age, and I,
you know, I'm always amazed at all the scouts that are seniors and doing these amazing
projects because we, our community has a bright future and we need to make sure they
stay here.
• Additionally, we completed the Tyler system upgrade to version 2024-4. It wasn't a
major change, but it was tested by city staff as all upgrades are in our test ID for several
weeks before the upgrade went live on our production last Friday.
• And lastly, I was fortunate enough on the one nice day this week, yesterday, to have
golfed at Springvale; and even with all the rain that has happened, the golf course is in
great shape. Not enough roll in my opinion. It was a little wet, so I couldn't get the ball
very far, but it was in spectacular shape. So I think we're going to be in for another great
season there, and that concludes my report, Mr. President. Thank you.
Law Director Gareau:
Was it the water that kind of interfered with your game? [laughing]
04-15-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 3
