Safety Director Scofield:
Director Jennifer Scofield, Public Safety. If you continue to experience situations where you feel
threatened by the cars, please, please, please call us in the moment, so that we can send
someone down. If you are seeing something, if someone's run into your ditch, if someone's
taken your mailbox, if you have almost been hit, please do not hesitate to call the police
station. Call 911, we will send a carat that time so we can try to help you and or try to identify
who is committing the violation. So please don't ever be afraid to give us a call so that we can
get a patrol car out there.
Mr. Cehelnik:
Hi, my name's Ed Cehelnik. I live on MacKenzie as well, that's my wife. I was wondering about
these speed tables that I've seen in some communities. They have like a section maybe 30 feet
long or something like that, it's like a little elevation. And, you know, it might be a little rough
on your car the first time or two that you hit it, but after that, you'll definitely be slowing down,
and all it is is extra asphalt on there. I think something like that might be a good idea. Maybe
placed in two or three places on the street. That's my thought.
Council President Brossard:
Okay, thank you.
Ms. Furyes:
My name is Nancy Furyes. I live on MacKenzie Road, 5611 MacKenzie Road. There is a drop in
the road. People that are down the road toward Fitch, they can't see our driveways. My
husband's been hit there... his car. My son, his car's been hit there. I have almost been forced
into the ditch, and there's many people that end up in my ditch. One of my neighbors had to
help the lady get out of the car. This goes on all the time. All the time. They're drag racing at
certain times of the day. I don't believe it's North Olmsted residents, because they're barreling
down the road towards Fitch. I've been tempted to follow them, but I can't get in my car that
fast. But it's a dangerous place. It really is. I don't know... I tell my neighbor, we have new
neighbors. I've lived here almost 50 years. It's horrible. I'm lucky I have grown kids. But there's
people across the street, they got little tiny girls. I keep telling them, keep them out of the
driveway, because if they hit anything, they're going to kill somebody. This goes on every day.
I'm a school bus driver. I see it all the time. But on MacKenzie, it's bad. Just tonight, as I was
coming home, heading toward Lorain, there was an Amazon truck here, three cars behind
them. One car came blasting out, three more, I'm not entitled to my lane at all. Purple
headlights, speeding, racing, loud muffler, it goes on all the time, all the time.
Council President Brossard:
Can you please clarify, I think you said MacKenzie headed towards Fitch. You said on
MacKenzie, there's a dip heading towards Fitch. Do you mean headed towards Sprague Road...
or not Sprague...
05-07-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 13
