first came on Council, I said to Carrie in one of my first meetings, I'm going to take a day off
work and come and look at the permanent budget for 2024, and I came up to her office and she
handed me a binder about four inches thick, typeset, I don't know, about negative one, and she
went over every line with me and I couldn't be more appreciative. And for Mary Ellen, you
know, we moved here in 2021. One of the very first people I met in this town was Mary Ellen
Hemann. Our moving truck was in the driveway, and she was running for City Council, Ward 4,
and she came up and knocked on our moving truck... I thought my wife, Marie, was going to kill
her. [laughing] Two years and three months later, I was on the same Council as her and she was
a tremendous help for me when I ran my race, and all along the way these last few years. And I
will miss her Wednesday morning 7 a.m. wake up calls to talk about what happened the night
before at City Council.. this is ridiculous or this is out of line, I can't believe this, but whatever....
I just thank you all for your service to the City, the residents of this town have no idea what
they're losing, and I'm happy that Maureen and Keegan are coming on. I think they do have
giants to shoes to fill, and I will miss you guys on Tuesday nights, and that concludes my report.
Council President Brossard:
Councilman Marrie, Chairman of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee, do you have a
report this evening?
Intra-Governmental Relations Committee
Councilman Marrie:
No report, but if I may have a moment of personal privilege?
Council President Brossard:
Absolutely.
Councilman Marrie:
I too would just like to say thank you to Director Copfer. Thank you so much for your years of
service to North Olmsted. Thank you for always being available with any questions I may have
had. I also met with you right when I first was appointed, and it was a very good meeting. You
answered all of my questions. I do have some finance background, but you definitely were able
to steer me in the right direction on a lot of things. So thank you for always being available for
me, and I wish you the best of luck. And for Councilwoman Hemann, I know you and I have not
worked together long either, but I'm really going to be indebted to you forever because I don't
think that I'd be sitting in this chair if it wasn't for your guidance and assistance and wisdom
that you've given me ever since I decided that I was interested in running for City Council. So
thank you so much. I know that our relationship is going to continue, and I look forward to
coming and seeing you at the courts too. But I just want to say thank you so much for
everything you've done for me, and I wish you the best of luck.
Councilwoman Hemann:
I know good candidates and Council people when I see them.
Councilman Marrie:
And that concludes my time. Thank you.
12-16-25 Council Meeting Minutes Page :1.2
