approach in the future, and thank you to everyone who took the time to attend and
participate.
• Our weather quickly changed from heavy snowfall to high wind storms these last few
weeks, which have continued to negatively impact our residents. The Service
Department has been working around the clock, clearing storm drains, removing fallen
trees, and providing residents with assistance whenever possible.
• However, we had great weather for our annual egg-stravaganza, which took place on
April 4th at the Barton Bradley Fields. This year's event drew thousands of attendees,
with more than 16,500 eggs hunted and found by children of all ages. It was a
wonderful, sunny morning, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our
Recreation Department for, as always, organizing such a successful event.
• After almost two years in the making, we recently celebrated the groundbreaking at
Forest Commons. We're excited to see Drees Homes and our additional partners
continue to grow alongside North Olmsted, bringing new, high -quality housing to our
community. The expected completion date will be this fall. This project represents an
important step forward as we continue to expand housing options and support our city's
growth.
• At the State of the City, we were excited to be able to announce that after last year's
significant and sudden announcement of Moen's departure, that along with City
Council, we finalized an agreement with the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging,
who will be relocating into the building and will then bring that building to 90%
occupancy rate. All of this shows that economic development, revitalization, and
infrastructure improvements across our city continue to move forward at a strong pace.
• Speaking of which, our new Director of Economic and Community Development, who
Council interviewed this evening, Michiel Wackers, will start Monday, April 13th. He has
an extensive resume, which includes director positions in Brantford and Middleton,
Connecticut, Cleveland, Ohio, and we're excited to have him join us here in North
Olmsted and look forward to working with him as he continues the work of furthering
economic and community development opportunities for our city.
• Finally, at the home opener cookout, we held a moment of silence before the dedication
of the paint booth in our Fleet Department to Tony Farrella, who sadly passed away
earlier this year. This tribute served as a lasting recognition of his contributions and
dedication to our city, and thank you also to our Human Resources Department for
hosting this event, and to all who attended to honor Tony's memory. That, Mr.
President, concludes my report. Thank you.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you. Director of Law Gareau, do you have a report this evening?
04 07-26 C and Meeting Minutes Pagp
